SIR - People complain about rising interest rates, but they rise because the same people borrow money to live beyond their true means.

The banks happily lend the money knowing it will be spent on businesses they fund - with our money - will return with interest, and, when the inevitable rise comes, even more profit.

It's called capitalism and ensures they can't lose and you can't win. It also ensures the survival of the dishonest British class system.

You can't win, except through the EU, which is pledged to social equality and a classless society. Sad that many Britons prefer serfdom.
