SIR - For once I agree, in part any way, with Keith Thomson (T&A, January 13).
I for one would much prefer to travel by train than plane but not by coach. By coach a journey to London can be a nightmare.
Travelling to far-flung places cannot be achieved, other than by ship - beyond the means of most - or plane so the "green" tax on long-haul flights is nothing more than a stealth tax which, in no way, will contribute to the reduction in CO2, which he has admitted, recently, is too late - the horse has bolted!
Climate change is already with us and has been for some time now and all we (the whole world) can do is mitigate against, bearing in mind that our contribution to pollution is minimal indeed.
