SIR - I would just like to lend my support to stop the dangerous parking and driving around our local schools.

In my capacity as a governor at my local primary school, I have spoken to parents who park on the yellow zig-zag lines and on the paths. The only responses I get are looks of incredulity or to be told "I'm only dropping off".

Having monitored the crossing patrol, I find it hard to describe the rank stupidity of some drivers who either ignore or try to jump the crossing.

I must also point out the lack of child booster seats in cars dropping off around school. The vast majority of dangerous parking culprits are also offenders in this area.

We cannot wait for an accident to happen before preventative measures are put in place. A child's life should not have to be lost as a precursor to road safety policy, therefore proper traffic calming measures must be put in place around all schools and if necessary reduce the speed limit around these areas as well.

If anyone wishes to help me and lend support to get things changed, ings changed, contact me at davidconservative@btinternet.com.
