SIR – At the Regulatory and Appeals panel hearing (July 3) the modified application for the high tech business park (now known as Baildon Business Park) at Buck Lane was accepted virtually without question and without proper scrutiny, in spite of its proposed design being declared unviable by the council’s appointed marketing agent. (T&A, June 27).

The council’s boast that the site would produce 723 NEW jobs is pie in the sky.

One third of the area of the site, is to be occupied by three companies, with a total of 65 employees, not the 100 as is claimed.

Councillors’ euphoria at the jobs being introduced by two of these three companies is premature. They are merely bringing workers. Unbiased estimates for the whole site give fewer than 200, mostly existing jobs. Existing jobs do not help Bradford’s unemployed.
