SIR - Bradford College principal Michele Sutton should be ashamed of herself as she squanders public money on a re-branding exercise while part of her campus is closed due to lack of funds (T&A, January 13).

Not good enough for her college the city coat of arms, let's ask the Teletubbies to give it a new identity?

It would seem in a cynical abuse of power, she, in effect, allows a PR company to influence, cajole and ultimately persuade her, a public employee, to hand over the keys to the safe.

Her soundbite defensive statement, probably provided upfront of the launch by the self-same company, is not only unconvincing and laughable, but is also highly demeaning and patronising to her critics.

Her college's appeal to prospective students will come in the weight its qualifications carry in the outside world.

This is directly related to the length, breadth and academic rigour of the courses offered.

To believe that a re-brand will have any palpable effect on the life of the college, its appeal to students and the quality of its courses requires an extraordinary imagination.
