SIR - Three cheers for Alan Chapman in his support for MP Philip Davies (T&A, January 3).

I am glad there are more realists out there who want to deal with real facts around these subjects, rather than stifle the debate by muddying the waters' with emotional bleating.

Too often lefty Liberals skip round the core of an issue and adopt a holier-than-thou' attitude if you challenge their arguments.

Then there are the pedants out there who would argue with a minute technicality or a particular word and its context rather than the debate itself.

Would it be too much to ask people to focus on the actual' points of real issues'?

In response to Mr Boase (T&A, December 21), as the majority of asylum seekers are bogus I assume they knew this before coming here.

Therefore, who can you then blame for clogging up the system or wasting further taxpayers' money on appeal after appeal and then the cost of removal?

The blame is firmly at their feet and that money should be spent on the many financial shortages in all areas of this country!
