SIR – Iain Duncan Smith was a failed Tory party leader, and he is currently a failure as works and pensions secretary.
In a country of 63 million people it defies logic that someone as clueless as him can be put in a position of responsibility and get it so awfully wrong. R Halliday is correct to call for Iain Duncan Smith’s resignation over the shambles he’s made for sickness benefit claimants (Letters, February 24).
It doesn’t stop there either, he has also mishandled the bedroom tax. Figures released from local authorities show that more than 19,000 council tenants have been wrongly penalised and that the real figures could be as high as 40,000.
This man and the Government he serves have heaped misery upon decent people. The bedroom tax is cruel and unfair, it is time that Iain Duncan Smith was shown the door.
