SIR – The letter from Bob Watson (T&A, December 7) rightly highlighted the main issue about the Paul Flowers affair.

That was the way in which the Labour administration and certain Council officials kept the truth from both ratepayers and other organisations, such as the Methodist Church and a primary school to save face.

This lack of responsibility to the wider public from people in high level positions simply confirms that they really are not fit to hold such roles.

It is saddening and rather disturbing that they all continue to hide behind smoke screens rather than admit the truth. Surely we deserve so much better?
