SIR - I have passed Mr Victor's banners (T&A, December 11) on the way to work for the last seven years and always found them amusing, inspiring and a great start to the bleakest day.

To say they are an eyesore is totally unjust, when all around Bradford, shops are allowed (and have been for years) to display goods (usually fruit and veg) all over the pavements.

I passed one shop the other day which had not only put goods out on the pavement, but had constructed a shelter for them using four large wooden pillars which had been concreted into the pathway.

Has anyone tried to stop them? I very much doubt it. Is it on a gateway to the city? Who knows?

Why doesn't the Council ensure equality for all, and inspect every inch of our " gateways" and send a similar letter. Not only that, but take action for the first time in years.

Stop picking on the ones you can do and start a fair programme of change for everyone.
