SIR - I am writing to ask people to take part in the 2007 Flora London Marathon in support of national visual impairment charity, Action for Blind People.

Action for Blind People runs sports clubs for blind and partially sighted children. Many of them have never even run before they join the clubs, but within weeks they're playing football, swimming or learning judo.

So how about putting on your running shoes so they can use theirs?

To join the Action Marathon Team, the charity asks for a £300 deposit and a commitment to raise another £1,300.

It sounds like a lot, but Action supports people's fundraising efforts every step of the way. Funds raised directly support more than 22,000 blind and partially-sighted children and adults across the UK.

Action for Blind People has 13 guaranteed places to run the 26 miles on Sunday, April 22, 2007. To book your place, call the events team on 020 7635 4932, e-mail events@actionforblindpeople.org.uk or visit www.actionforblindpeople. org.uk Jo Brand, pictured, Action for Blind People, Verney Road, London
