SIR – I am writing to say thank-you to Bradford Council which, on July 9, accepted the suggestion (Letters, June 27) that Eccleshill War Memorial be lit up on August 4, 2014, for one month to commemorate the start of the First World War.
It will be an opportunity in August 2014 for the Eccleshill community to remember not only the brave men who died and whose names are recorded there, but also the local people who in the 1920s contributed to and built this War Memorial.
