SIR – In his letter (T&A, July 13) John Hall says he’s sorry I feel wealthy pensioners (eg, company bosses with pensions worth millions) are suffering through losing winter fuel allowances.

What I actually said was, and I quote: “It is the pensioners residing in the UK who are suffering because of cuts in the winter fuel allowance NOT the wealthy senior citizens or the ex-pats living in warmer climes who should never have received this subsidy in the first place”.

Spot the difference, Mr Hall!
