SIR - Thank God for the sensible comments from the Archbishop of York, pictured, about the wearing of the cross and other items from different religious faiths.
I remember when he toured the villages around York prior to his enthronement. He wore a flat cap.
No-one to my knowledge remarked that he should not be wearing it as he wasn't born in Yorkshire!
