SIR - Once again, the long-suffering residents of Hopefield Way (off Rooley Lane) have had to endure major hold-ups on Rooley Lane, due to further disgraceful and outrageous roadworks at Staithgate Roundabout.
There were three lanes of standing traffic for most of Sunday, and if there had been a major emergency on this stretch of road then it would have been highly unlikely that emergency services would have been able to reach their destination.
It is absolutely unbelievable that a major arterial roundabout should have been reduced from three lanes to one.
All in all, it took me 20-25 minutes to get from my house on Hopefield Way to the top of this roundabout. Why were no signs put up days before to make drivers aware that there would be serious delays, and were the roadworks really necessary?
This is an endless catalogue of this road being subject to disruption. How much longer do we have to put up with this?
