SIR - I take my hat off to Maud Marshall, because whoever has the job of regenerating the centre of Bradford has to face a city of doubters.

Perhaps there is good reason when you look back. But at present the Broadway development, even I've become frustrated with the delay, is certain to go ahead. I am confident of that.

Leeds was a dump 20 years ago but look at it now. Leeds has not been revived overnight, has it?

What will Bradford be like in 20 years' time? This city's revival will be very much evident even five years down the line.

Leeds and Bradford have always been totally different places so to keep comparing them is wrong.

Whether people like it or not, Bradford is being transformed. Believe it and see it!

I suggest a stroll around Little Germany where the regeneration of the city centre has begun. This area is alive with building work and will be repeated throughout Bradford over the next few years.
