SIR – Further to the letter from Clive Kerfoot, may I urge everyone to support the campaign for research into ME?
ME is a truly devastating neuro/immunological illness. There are no treatments and no cures. The level of pain and debilitation it causes is on a par with the final stages of cancer or Aids.
Around 20 per cent of patients, many of them only young, are bedbound and tube-fed. They lie alone in darkened rooms because of extreme sensitivity to light and sound. As well as suffering the agonising symptoms, they also suffer further because of the ignorance and neglect.
It has to change. Please support this campaign.
