SIR - While not disagreeing entirely with Mark Drummond regarding whether or not fish and chips are an economical takeaway meal, I feel the fish fryers make a bomb out of chips - 80p or thereabouts for a tiny portion of chips.
If you go to most Chinese takeaways and get a bag of chips you will get four or five times the amount you get at the traditional chippy for about £1.
I know the price of a sack of spuds and I know the breakdown into chips and I can add up without taking my shoes off to know that they are profiteers.
So come on chippies, give us a fairer portion of chips - we don't begrudge the price of fish because we know it is expensive, but spuds ain't!
