SIR - I recently saw the Stage 84 production of The Wizard of Oz at the Alhambra and I would like to commend all the young people involved.

It was a wonderful show, full of colour and choreography, with backdrops provided by projected images which added a psychedelic feel to the story.

Dorothy (Katie Griffiths) acted and sung very well and the cowardly lion (Philip Hill-Pearson) knew exactly how to strike the right level of humour with excellent comic timing.

The scarecrow was also impressive, being on stage for the majority of the show and being an integral part of the cast.

But the major praise is for the chorus whose singing, dancing and costumes showed a professionalism way beyond their years.

These young people deserve all the praise they receive.
