A POPULAR teacher who taught hundreds of Bradford children how to cook, has died aged 54.
Julie Tempest who also taught textiles at Laisterdyke Leadership Academy, died last Monday from cancer.
She was with her husband John, director of The Bradford Soup Run, for 17 years. Mrs Tempest also leaves three children Jonathon, Emily, Alistair and step-daughter Jessica, a sister Anne, nieces and nephews.
Mr Tempest said: “Julie was quickly accepted by those she used to feed on the
streets and she was always happy to make time and help people less fortunate
than herself.
“Although she enjoyed travel, family life was most important to
her. As a family, we’ve been on an emotional roller-coaster but we are heartened by the numbers of messages of support at our loss.”
Her funeral is on Wednesday at St James’ Church in Thornton at 11.30am with donations in her memory going to The Bradford Soup Run.
