GLUSBURN primary school children were delighted with the response from businesses with gifts of plants for the school’s garden area.
The school’s eco team is working towards the Silver Eco School’s Award and wrote to supermarkets asking for additional resources.
Headteacher, Richard Hunt, said: “The school has been working extremely hard to make the area -The Millennium Garden - accessible for all children after it became overgrown during lockdown.
“The main purpose was to benefit each child’s wellbeing, providing a place of peace and distraction, facilitating recovery as we emerge from the Covid crisis.”
He added: “Our children recognise the importance in re-connecting with the world around us and the need to foster care and appreciation for the planet and all its inhabitants. The new and improved outdoor area offers many new learning opportunities across the curriculum.”
