SETTLE eco-warrior Alfie Riley has asked for an unusual present this Christmas - a litter picker.
The environmentally-aware eight-year-old pupil at Settle Primary School has been litter picking across the Settle and Giggleswick areas where he has been enjoying doing his bit to improve the surroundings for everyone to enjoy.
Headteacher Richard Wright said: “He has been spotted by members of the public who have been impressed by his positive attitude and community spirit.
“He is a fantastic ambassador for Settle Primary. A well deserved Headteacher Certificate and pen is on its way to you young man.”
As well as asking for a litter picker for his Christmas stocking, Alfie has asked like-minded pupils to join him in a spring campaign to tidy up Settle and Giggleswick and keep it ship-shape.
Settle Primary School is backing his call to arms and will help him to set up a school club to get his idea off the ground.
