RESIDENTS and staff members at The Dales Care Home, in Draughton, celebrated the Harvest Festival by donating a food hamper to Skipton Food Bank.

The occasion at the Dales Care Home was also marked with reading of hymns, light refreshments and pumpkin carving which really helped everyone at the home get into the spirit of the festival and was something the residents enjoyed being involved with.

The Harvest Festival is a celebration of food grown on land and, traditionally, a time for families and communities to get together and bring food to the less fortunate.

The Dales’ general manager Roisin Doyle said: “Staff, residents and friends from the community of the home all donated very generously to the harvest hamper, which was sent to Skipton Food Bank and it really is heart-warming to see how much people care about helping others who are less fortunate. Thank you to everyone who contributed.”

Skipton Food Bank is based in St Andrew’s Church.
