A DEER which was hit by a car at Kildwick roundabout just before 4pm today has had to be put down.
A member of the public reported the incident to the police saying two people were holding the deer at the side of the road to prevent it from running onto the carriageway and causing an accident.
Police attended in case the road had to be closed, along with a vet who made the decision that the animal's injuries were too severe and it was put to sleep.
