GRASSINGTON resident Bunty Leder, known for her tireless campaigning against litter in the Craven district, has found an ingenious use for her litter picker while practising social distancing.

Bunty said she was concious about keeping a good distance from people while out essential shopping during the coronavirus pandemic and came up with the innovative use for the equipment.

“If I go into the paper shop I use it to pick up my newspapers each day.

“I also find it useful for contactless payments,” she said.

“John Rudden, of Grassington House Hotel, has put a super stall outside his premises so I can buy things and grasp my bank card with the litter picker and pay contactless while keeping my distance.”

The Grassington House Hotel was forced to close alongside other business, but has teamed up with trusted partners and has launched ‘Rudden’s Rations’, a pop-up shop open daily selling food and basics.
