AN appeal against enforcement action has been made to the Secretary of State in respect of the Old Dairy, Cowside Barn, Langcliffe.

The appeal is against the unauthorised change of use of the building to a self-contained house, including erection of timber decking and fencing.

An enforcement notice was served as a breach of planning control had occurred, according to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.

The Authority does not consider that planning permission should be granted because the development does not meet the policies of the Yorkshire Dales Local Plan 2015.

The appellant’s grounds of appeal are that planning permission ought to be granted and that at the time the enforcement notice was issued, it was too late to take enforcement action against the matters stated in the notice.

The appeal is to be decided on the basis of the written representation procedure.

Copies of the appeal documents can be seen at the national park offices by prior arrangement.

Additional comments must be sent to the planning inspectorate by April 2.
