AN environmentally conscious Skipton hotel has turned to a local waste management company to further increase recycling.

As part of a new waste management service being provided by Yorwaste, all of the material collected from Herriots Hotel will either be recycled or transformed into green electricity.

This will provide the independently owned hotel in Broughton Road with a landfill diversion solution for its waste, and further complements the work the hotel is doing to maximise its impact on the environment.

Owner Michele Graham-Roe said: “We’ve always been conscious about doing our bit to help the environment, particularly given our location in a beautiful market town like Skipton.”

The main focus of the new partnership between Herriots Hotel and Yorwaste will be on recycling.

Yorwaste has provided dedicated containers to collect materials such as paper, plastic bottles, aluminium and steel tins and cardboard.

This material will be collected by Yorwaste on a weekly basis and taken locally for sorting and separation before being sent for final recycling into their original states..

Liz Thompson, Yorwaste business development executive said: “We’re delighted to welcome Herriots Hotel as a new customer and are looking forward to working with them to maximise the amount of waste which is recycled or recovered.”
