Whether you’re a fan of Frozen or the Fantastic Four, Star Wars or Spider-Man, you can now enjoy the heroes’ comic book adventures with digital downloads from North Yorkshire’s library service.

The County Council’s service has launched a collection of more than 1,500 comics and graphic novels for all age ranges that can be downloaded to any digital device. The collection includes titles from major publishers, including Marvel, Disney, Dark Horse and IDW.

Chrys Mellor, General Manager Libraries, said: “Comics are big news with the ongoing success of the Marvel superhero films, for example, so this is an opportunity for fans to read new adventures featuring favourite characters. There is a huge range of titles, for children and adults, from Mickey Mouse and My Little Pony to GI Joe and Ghostbusters, Aliens and American Gods.

“Comics are not only entertaining, but can offer a great way for children to get into reading and to develop their love of stories. We’re all used to storytelling mixing words and pictures on screen, so picking up a comic is a natural extension of that.”

The comics are provided through the RB Digital platform, which the library service has used for some time to offer magazines and audio e-books.
