STAFF from Mill House, Giggleswick School’s newly opened pre-school took part in Settle’s Christmas lights switch-on festivities on Saturday.

Teachers and support staff represented the pre-school and ran fun activities on the Mill House stall, including Christmas crafts and decorating festive cupcakes.

Carl Shuttleworth, manager of Mill House, who helped man a stall with colleague and early years practitioner Maureen Byrne, said: “We had a fantastic time at the switch-on, joining in with the rest of the local community to mark and celebrate the start of the festive season.

“The children at Mill House are now enjoying an exciting build-up to Christmas with lots of special activities.”

Mill House, which opened in its own newly-renovated premises within Giggleswick’s 200 acre campus earlier this year, means the school now offers independent learning for children from two to 18-years-old.

The lights switch-on event was attended by Settle Rotary Club which hosted Santa in his grotto in the Market Place.

In addition, rotary members will continue to tour the district with Santa and his sleigh in the run up to Christmas.

This week Santa’s schedule included visits all around the district. All the money collected goes to local individuals, clubs, societies and charities, in Settle and the surrounding villages, as well as Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Cave Rescue Organisation.
