ONE of Skipton’s most colourful events is readying itself for another bumper turnout.

The 10th Great Skipton Santa Fun Run, organised by the Rotary Club of Skipton Craven, takes place on November 24 and will be followed by the Christmas Lights switch-on.

This year’s route, which sets off from the high street, has been revised following feedback from last year’s event.

This, coupled with a staggered start, will mean less bottlenecks and a more enjoyable and safer experience for all. In addition, there will be a new shorter route for the disabled wheelchair users making the event more inclusive.

A new feature for this year’s fun run is offering the first 10 charities, schools, organizations or amateur clubs relating to children, that enter a team of 25 or more, a £250 incentive for their organisation.

All you have to do is make sure that all entries have the same team name and once entered, email the names to admin@skiptonsantafunrun.co.uk . Acceptance of any organisation’s application will be at the discretion of the organizing Rotary club.

Cowling Community Primary School will be entering a big team to participate in the event and are already in training.

Whether runner, walker, wheelchair user or less able, all are welcome. A free Santa suit is given to each entrant and a medal for every course completer.

If you can’t run why not consider coming along to cheer others along?

Race entertainment includes three bands and “Purple for Polio” Cake will be available to purchase with a donation from the sale of each cake being made to the Rotary International Campaign to eradicate polio.

Skipton Rotary are offering free car parking at Skipton Building Society Car Park at The Bailey. Free Parking prior to 11 am will be for those showing a Santa Fun Run race number.

The 2018 Fun Run raised over £36,000 and this year the target is £40k with the aim of exceeding last year's total of 1,800 runners.
