THERE was a party atmosphere at Woodlands, in Skipton, when staff helped resident Mary Lee celebrate her 100th birthday yesterday.
Mrs Lee was born in Ashton-under-Lyne and for many years was the owner of a bakery and cake shop in Audenshaw .
She moved to Disley, Cheshire, in 1955 and lived for many years before moving to Whaley Bridge when her husband, James, died in 1993.
She was a keen member of the golf and bridge clubs in Disley and played both well into her 80s. Three years ago she moved to Skipton to be near her only son, Philip, and his wife, Barbara.
Mary lives now in Woodlands, an independent home run by The Abbeyfield Trust, where she celebrated her milestone birthday along with her family, friends, staff and residents.
