SETTLE residents and organisations are being asked if they want to see Settle Carnival revived.
The public is being invited to go along to a meeting on Monday, September 30, in the council offices, where discussions will take place around the plan to re-start the carnival which ceased around 30 years ago.
If enough support comes from the local area, the first of the new carnivals is earmarked to take place on Saturday, June 6, 2020.
The suggestion from the council is that the event would start at Greenfoot Car Park and process through the town ending in the Settle Swimming Pool car park, followed by games and entertainment.
The cost to the council to get the event off the ground is expected to be around £5,000. This will cover street closures, insurance and other expenses.
However, community support will be need to re-start the event and residents, business representatives and organisations are being invited to go along to the meeting at the town hall at 7pm to have their say and share information.
