A CHARITY football event in Barnoldswick between Rolls Old Boys and Vintage Clarets recently has raised more than £4,000 for local good causes.
The derby, organised by Rolls Old Boys manager Lee Barrett, ended in a 3-3 draw and included a family fundraising day. He thanked sponsors and everyone who helped. The money raised is being split between Barnoldswick and Earby Bosom Friends charity and the town’s St Joseph’s Primary School.
The donation for the school is being put towards its new ‘Mile-a-Day’ track which is helping children to live and learn about healthy life styles.
The cheques were presented at the school’s ‘good news’ assembly, attended by Mr Barrett, and Gus and Mary Brennan, from Bosom Friends.
Headteacher Natalie Wood said: “This track would not have been possible without the support of our families, ‘Friend’s of St. Josephs’, Rolls Old Boys and our local community who have helped to raise money.”
