SKIPTON driving instructor Andrew Wroot has completed a 50 kilometre Trekfest challenge with his brothers.
Andrew, who runs Wroot 1 Driving School said he and his brothers, Stephen and Paul ‘limped across the line’ in the Peak District, in the dark but in good spirits, finishing the course in a time of 14 hours and 10 minutes.
“What a challenge it was - strong winds, lashing rain, dazzling sunshine, numerous blisters (plus some missing toenails) and a final relentless 10k that seemed to go on forever. We all enjoyed it but found it a lot tougher than we anticipated.”
He said it was a walk in the park for the Skipton local - covering the course in shorts - but not for his southern brothers who kept many layers on and both lost toenails, resulting in a trip to A&E the day after.
The walk was in aid of their chosen charity, Children With Cancer, and the trio has raised £2,700 so far, almost achieving their eventual target of £3,000.
