A PLAQUE which had been mistakenly removed from the front of the Yorkshire Bank when it vacated Skipton high street recently, has been returned.

Market trader Julie Holgate noticed on Friday, August 23, that the plaque had disappeared and immediately informed market manager Stefan Bodnarczuk.

The sign details the site of the former Bay Horse Inn, as well as being a marker for an ancient bull baiting stone on the setts.

Mr Bodnarczuk got in touch with Yorkshire Bank who claimed it was theirs and it had been removed as company policy to take away all external signage.

After an outcry from market traders and members of the civic society, the bank said it would have its contractors put it back.

It reappeared undamaged, on Friday morning last week and much to everyone’s relief.

“I’m very pleased to see it back, undamaged, in its rightful place, and glad to have saved it from a skip,” said Julie.
