THE artistic talent of Grassington artist Victoria Alderson is being showcased at an exhibition in Skipton.

Skipton’s furniture and furnishings store, The Home Company, is hosting an open event to present her latest work.

The main event, to meet the artist, will take place at the lifestyle store’s High Corn Mill showrooms on May 24 between 5pm-7pm

The shop will be open from 9am.

Free refreshments will be provided by RachAls Kitchen.

There’s also a chance to win a signed print on the evening.

The dedicated space will feature 15 specially commissioned pieces by Victoria who is rapidly becoming established locally as a gifted watercolour artist with a contemporary approach.

The exhibition will cover three categories: Dales, Serengeti and abstract, and present five watercolour paintings in each series.

There will also be a number of signed prints on sale.

Andrew Mear, owner of The Home Company said: “As a local store we’re particularly keen to support local artists and crafts people who will produce items which enhance the home and Victoria’s work is really striking.”

Victoria’s prints will be on display in the store following the event. The original watercolours will be available for purchase with a special request.

Originally built in 1310 to mill Skipton’s corn, High Corn Mill today houses a number of retail, beauty and business tenants as well as the Waterwheel House, which features a 15 Kw crossflow water turbine, creating enough energy to power up to 20 homes around the local area via the National Grid.
