SKIPTON firefighters were among crews from Harrogate and Boroughbridge who were called to a moorland fire on Barden Moor yesterday just after 4pm..

It came after two serious moorland fires broke out on Ilkley Moor and Marsden Moor over the Easter bank holiday weekend.

A spokesman for the Bolton Abbey Estate said: "Following reports of a wild fire at Halton East near Bolton Abbey yesterday, the estate gamekeepers were quickly on the scene.

"Working with the emergency services and neighbouring gamekeepers, their collective knowledge and experience resulted in the fire being quickly brought under control and safely extinguished.  

"The estate thanks the swift response of the local community, staff members, the emergency services and neighbouring gamekeepers."
