TRAINS from Skipton have been temporarily cancelled as overhead power lines have stopped travel on electric trains.

Electric lines are down at Armley Junction, meaning that services from Skipton are suspended until further notice.

A spokesman for Network Rail said engineers were working to rectify the problem. In the meantime the company was trying to get some diesel trains organised to cover some services.

"We hope to have the problem sorted out soon and get services back to normal as soon as possible. At the moment there is no power."

Commuters are urged to check with the rail operator before travelling.
