A SHEEP was badly injured by dogs in a field between Rylstone and Cracoe on Sunday.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed the ewe, believed to be a Texel cross, had been attacked by two dogs in a field between Fell Lane and Raikes Lane, during the afternoon.
The sheep received serious leg injuries and initial reports were that it may have to be put to sleep.
The dogs were described as two, long-haired retriever-type dogs, although it is not clear what exact breed they were.
The dogs’ owner took them away from the scene of the incident which was reported to the farmer by members of the public.
Anyone with any information that could assist the police in identifying the dogs' owner is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and pass information for incident number 12190003274.
