AN Earby woman who crashed her car while driving home from her job as a carer in Skipton was more than twice the drink-drive limit.

Aileen McBirney Hutchinson, 43, of Victoria Road, pleaded guilty to drink driving at Skipton Magistrates' Court on Friday.

She crashed her Nissan Micra into a wall and a tree on the A56, at Elslack, sustaining a cut above her eye and a bloodied nose on July 31 this year.

She was taken to hospital where blood tests showed she had 178 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limits is 80 milligrammes.

Magistrates were told Hutchinson had mental health issues which were being addressed.

She had consumed the alcohol after work and the incident had occurred at around 6pm.

Hutchinson was banned from driving for 20 months, reduced by 20 weeks if successfully completing a rehabilitation course.

She was also ordered to pay a fine of £120, costs of £85 and a surcharge of £30.
