ENGINEERS of tomorrow at West Craven High School, Barnoldswick, won an Enjoy-neering trophy in a competition hosted by Themis at Burnley College.
Teams of budding engineers from Barnoldswick and other local schools worked against the clock to design, cost and manufacture a mini Formula One racing car before their vehicles were tested in time trials on a specially-constructed track at the end of the day.
Teams of four had to allocate individual job roles and then work as a group to give a final presentation to a panel of industry expert judges.
In a nail-biting time trial, the fastest car was made by Marsden Heights Community College, but West Craven was awarded the Enjoy-neering Trophy for the best overall performance, with the judges commending their great teamwork and factoring sustainable materials into their design.
