MEMBERS of the Hindu community in Bradford united over a video call to mark International Day of Yoga.

The Bradford Hindu Council (BHC) brought Hindu organisations from across the district and surrounding areas together to organise a Zoom Yoga event.

The event was co-ordinated by Harkishan Mistry and Jayaraj Nambiar with the support of the entire team from Bradford Hindu Council.

It attracted more than 70 Zoom accounts and numerous others joined us via our Facebook live event.

More than 150 participants aged from five to 75 took part in yesterday’s event.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

The event included a welcome by guest Kersten England, Bradford Council chief executive, and two instructors holding a yoga session including meditation.

She said: “The practice of yoga and meditation is so incredibly important and at Bradford Council we have whole agenda and commitment around wellbeing and our strap line is we want every resident to be Happy, Health and be at home.

“We are investing more and more of our funds into creating those basis foundations for wellbeing.

“I feel that the Hindu community and practice of yoga can be a significant contributor to this programme.”
