THIS week children at Moorfield School and Nursery in Ilkley planted 30 Hazel saplings provided free by ‘The Tree Appeal’, who encourage schools to make the most of their grounds and outside areas.
Ruth McBain, Bushcraft teacher said: “We have been clearing and then planting our new trees in our wild area of the school grounds.
“This helps create woodland, habitat, increases biodiversity and most importantly, provides an excellent learning resource.
“The Tree Appeal plant trees throughout the British Isles, mainly in schools and woodlands and we are delighted to play a crucial part in planting trees that makes for lasting and beneficial changes.”
Tree Appeal provides trees to schools and colleges throughout the UK. They are paid for by corporate sponsors so there is absolutely no charge to the schools receiving them.
