THE YORKSHIRE Party is claiming the Government has ‘given up’ on its promise to level up the North, amid concerns that it had slashed the budget of Transport for the North by 40 per cent.
Party leader, Bob Buxton, said: “What more proof do we need that Westminster favours London and the South East? Crossrail has been allowed to go over budget again and again, while Yorkshire and the whole North gets less and less. This is why I have started a Parliamentary Petition for a referendum on real devolution with proper powers and funding, via a Yorkshire Regional Parliament. With regional powers we can invest in and reinvent Yorkshire’s transport, making it better and greener - growing the economy, creating new jobs and tackling congestion and air pollution. Please sign it, please share it.” Visit https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/559524 to sign.
