A SECOND group of walkers had to be rescued after getting lost at Thruscross Reservoir, between Skipton and Harrogate, in the same week.

On Sunday, a team from the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association was called out to help a family of four who had become lost in the failing light and worsening weather.

A spokesperson for Grassington based UWFRA said: “Using phone find, the team’s controller was able to locate the family and a small team was despatched to meet them and take them back to where their vehicle was parked.

Five volunteers spent just under two hours assisting the family.

Just two days earlier, on Friday, three volunteers went to the aid of two walkers who reported themselves lost in the area of the reservoir to police.
