BRADFORD Council’s Visit Bradford has produced a series of podcasts allowing people to escape the everyday and enjoy local activities and attractions in the comfort of their own homes.

The new Explore with Visit Bradford Podcasts is a magazine-style series with five episodes, each focusing in on a specific area.

Keen arm chair travellers can explore Bradford, Haworth, Ilkley and UNESCO World Heritage Site Saltaire with Heart Radio’s John Foster.

The series covers a wide range of history, entertainment, outdoor spaces, shopping, dining and museums on offer around the Bradford district.

Released in time for the mid-term break, each podcast includes chats with local guides and experts, and ‘audio walks’ which take people on fascinating virtual tours of local attractions.

Council officers from the authority’s Countryside Rights of Way, Bradford Museums, Bradford Theatres and Visit Bradford have been eager participants illustrating their passion and depth of knowledge for their attractions.

Most of the podcasts were recorded in early 2020, however the more recent content was carefully created under Covid Secure restrictions using face masks, social distancing and hygiene measures.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Healthy People and Places Portfolio Holder, said: “Well done to Visit Bradford for coming up with such an interesting and innovative way to enjoy our wonderful district without having to leave the home.

“This fascinating series will be particularly useful for people who, for various reasons, are limited by the Covid-19 restrictions.

“I encourage everyone to listen to at least one of the podcasts and share their thoughts on them using the hashtag #VisitBradford.”
