SEPTEMBER is usually the time of year where you would see Cadets from 1224 (Wharfedale) Squadron on the streets of Ilkley and the surrounding areas collecting for the RAF Association's Wings Appeal.
Sadly this year this has been unable to happen due to Covid-19 but that doesn't mean that they have given up collecting. The Wings Appeal is the RAF Association’s on-going fundraising campaign that runs throughout the year. It is the fundraising arm of the Association and helps raise the vital funds needed to support serving and former serving RAF personnel and their families, whenever they are in need. Whether it’s an injured airman fighting to get back onto his feet, a young child missing their parent away on overseas operations or a WWII veteran needing a shoulder to lean on. This year they have moved online and have set up a Just Giving page, in association with RAFA themselves.
Please consider donating what you would usually donate when you would see members of 1224 out and about during more normal times.
