A CAR flipped onto its roof and a woman was left trapped in another vehicle after a crash on the A65 this afternoon.

West Yorkshire Police were called to reports of a collision on the A65, between Addingham and Ilkley, at around 1.04pm.

Emergency services including ambulance, fire and the Air Ambulance were called and deployed to the scene.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision and one car was flipped on its roof.

A male driver has been injured and is being taken to hospital and a woman was trapped in another car.

A driver, who was diverted away from the scene at around 1.40pm, saw the Air Ambulance come in to land.

They said it looked as if a car had been totally crushed, with another car also at the scene.

They added that police have completely blocked the road both ways, with four fire engines, an ambulance and a police car there.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Road closures are currently in place whilst emergency services assess the scene."

The blockage is causing heavy traffic.

Police enquiries are ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any dashcam footage, is asked to contact the police via 101, or using the contact options on the West Yorkshire Police website.
