LIVE entertainment may still be on hold, but that isn’t stopping Yeadon Town Hall from opening its doors to the local community.

The building’s bar - the Town Hall Tavern - reopened to the public last week. The bar has recently been further refurbished as part of a lockdown project - and its new decor is in keeping with the building’s historical architecture and trademark style.

Following its relaunch, the bar will be open every weekend except for the first weekend of September, October and November when the indoor community market will be held instead. Opening times can be found on the Yeadon Town Hall website.

Locals are invited to enjoy a pint of Town Hall Blonde or a selection of other beers, wines and spirits in the quirky bar area. The Main Auditorium theatre space has also been transformed into a giant overflow area so Yeadon Town Hall is able to seat up to 120 people.

To ensure adequate social distancing, there may be a waiting list and queue to enter and all transactions must be cashless where possible. Visitors are asked to respect social distancing guidelines and follow increased hygiene routines.

The community interest company running the town hall says its team has been trained to follow enhanced safety routines and procedures, and the Town Hall is subject to increased and more rigorous cleaning regimes.

There are also plans in the pipeline to incorporate local entertainment including music acts once the government gives the green light.

Jamie Hudson, CEO at Yeadon Town Hall, says: “We’ve been working hard during lockdown to ensure we can reopen safely and welcome the community back to the Town Hall. We hope our regular visitors will enjoy joining us for a drink very soon.”

Before the pandemic it was offering a diverse programme of live music gigs, musical theatre performances and comedy shows - and has more entertainment planned for the future.
