INNER Wheel Club members at Otley have been doing their bit to support health workers during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Inner Wheel Club of Otley Chevin has supported may charities and good causes over the past 30 years. Recently it has turned its attention to supporting those who are on the front line of the battle to contain the coronavirus.
A club representative has made two visits to Menston Ambulance Station to present gifts of fresh produce, cakes, chocolate and sweets to the team there. Another member has been busy sewing bags for NHS workers to use while transporting their used scrubs. The bags - each containing a chocolate bar - were recently delivered to Wharfedale Hospital.
The club, meanwhile, would under normal circumstances have celebrated the 30th (pearl) anniversary of the club’s charter with a dinner on May 19.
Due to the lockdown that was not possible so members, and guests including Thelma Pacsoo from the Inner Wheel Club of Ilkley, met online where they were welcomed by club President Ann Elviss.
Thelma, a Past District Chairman and Past National President who has been a friend of the Otley club throughout its existence, praised members for all their good work over the past 30 years.
