THE NUMBER of people dying with Covid-19 in Leeds Hospitals has risen to 62.

Figures released by NHS England on Wednesday show that 340 cases of the virus had been reported in Leeds. A total of 62 people testing positive had died at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust by 5pm on Tuesday, April 7. At 9am on Monday that figure stood at 48.

The figures were published as the Government continued to urge people to stay inside during the sunny weather and to continue observing social distancing.

Meanwhile it has been revealed that 10,000 face masks are being sent to Leeds from its Chinese sister city Hangzhou.

And Leeds City Council is working with Voluntary Action Leeds and local organisations to provide additional support to ensure everyone is able to get the help they need.

The council is organising a city-wide leaflet drop as part of its efforts to keep everyone as informed, and safe, as possible.

The leaflet emphasises the stay at home message and gives details about where to get help.

The help will come from the council and from Community Care volunteers working alongside other community organisations.
